Founder of Peace & Power Yoga
Bonnie Ferguson is a yoga educator, aerial yoga trainer, and movement specialist devoted to helping people cultivate strength, regulate their nervous systems, and lead with grounded confidence.
First introduced to yoga in her teens, Bonnie returned to the practice in early adulthood during a season of profound personal grief and loss. What began as a search for steadiness became a disciplined and devoted path of study. Over time, her practice evolved from personal healing into a commitment to education, not just teaching classes, but shaping how teachers think, sequence, and lead.
Bonnie completed her foundational training at Alberta Yoga College, graduating as Valedictorian, and has since pursued advanced study in biomechanics, strength training, restorative yoga, trauma-informed practice, breathwork, and nervous system science. Her work bridges traditional yogic philosophy with modern movement education, blending intelligent sequencing, mobility and functional strength, and polyvagal-informed awareness.
She teaches a range of classes, including creative vinyasa, strength-integrated flow, aerial yoga, restorative practices, and Yoga Nidra. Her approach honours both precision and expression, integrating clear alignment principles with modern biomechanics while creating space for curiosity, music-driven movement, and authentic self-expression.
Bonnie serves on the faculty for 200-hour teacher trainings and is the Co-Creator and Lead Trainer of the BE FREE 40-Hour Aerial Yoga Teacher Training. She is known for her clarity, precision, and depth as an educator, challenging teachers to think critically, sequence with intention, and lead from a place of embodied authority.
She is currently developing continuing education programs for yoga teachers who want to feel empowered and deeply intentional in their teaching. Her upcoming courses explore intelligent sequencing, nervous system-informed class design, and the art of restorative leadership, equipping teachers with the structure, discernment, and confidence to build classes that are both technically sound and emotionally resonant.
Through Peace & Power Yoga, Bonnie offers in-person and online classes, video-on-demand programs, private instruction, advanced teacher education, and speaking engagements. Whether she is leading a room, mentoring teachers, or building curriculum, her work is rooted in one intention:
To guide people toward balance,
where resilience meets regulation,
strength meets softness,
and peace and power coexist.

Testimonials
"Bonnie has an incredible gift. Not only does she make everyone in class feel welcome, but she somehow manages to challenge you, make you laugh, while simultaneously grounding and centering the energy in class. Her classes are inclusive, and open to all levels of ability. I highly recommend taking a class with this incredibly talented and kind soul, she really is a gem."
-Holly V., Yoga Practitioner
"I love Bonnie's yoga classes, she has such a beautiful way of navigating you effortlessly through the poses, with the perfect amount of correction and encouragement. My favourite part of Bonnie as a teacher is her integration of her knowledge of the physical body and her connection to the spirit of the practice, and her students. She weaves a beautiful thread through all of her classes through the wisdom teachings of the yogic traditions and the nature of her own connections and gifts to the natural and cosmic worlds. She balances the classes with the sacred, keeping you engaged while also keeping it light-hearted and relaxing. Every yoga class I leave, I have always learned something unique about the poses themselves or the natural cycles of the world we live in. Love her so much, and can’t wait to continue practicing with her!"

She is peaceful, and passionate & exudes a bright yet calm light from her being. She is OUR person. Bonnie is attentive to our needs, teaches us how to show up for ourselves & to listen to our body; always positive. She makes you feel welcome, comfortable in your own skin, & that you are appreciated & valued. It doesn’t matter what age you are, or how flexible, or athletic you are. She meets you where you are in yourself. I highly recommend Bonnie. Getting started with her as our yoga instructor has been a Blessing to us. "

I have never done yoga before; will I be able to take the class?
Yoga is about gaining and improving our health in its most holistic sense. Just showing up on the mat regularly, consciously connecting with your breath as you move in and out of the poses and staying aware of your limitations in strength and flexibility will bring about amazing benefits to the body, mind, and soul that you may not have known were even possible. Be clear about why you are doing yoga...to get well and stay healthy! All levels are welcome to attend any of our classes. We suggest having a look at the class description and finding a class that suits your needs. As always if you have any questions, we’re happy to answer them, just contact us!
What if I'm not flexible?
Then this may be the perfect practice for you! This is one of the best reasons to get started with yoga. Flexibility has been greatly overrated as an essential or necessary quality for a yoga teacher – or any yoga practitioner. Equally, or more important, are mindfulness, breath awareness, balance, strength, controlled and functional movement, interoception and proprioception. Besides, everyone has an area in their body or mind where they can create more flexibility.
New to yoga: TIPS
If it's your first time in a yoga class, be patient and kind to yourself. It’s a safe space, without judgment, to show up in your most authentic state. Check out at least 3-4 classes before deciding whether yoga is right for you or not. There are so many styles of yoga, sometimes it’s just about finding what works for you, and what makes you feel good. Each has its attractions and limitations. Try not to get caught up in the belief that any one style is perfect for you or everyone and be open to different experiences. At the end of the day, we leave it all on the mat anyway!
